Canton Degin

Chapter 1.

You ask me whether I remember the story. Well I will answer with total and only truth of what really happened in Devinshire. It was one of those dark and rainy mornings, when I woke to the pounding of my door. I tried to rise but all the actions of the company from the night before, caused me to stumble to my feet. With half shut eyes I proceeded to the door. Opening it, and to my surprise saw Fredrick Degin.
He seemed very out of breath and worried. He talked to himself, and then took me by the shoulders and shook me, until I was fully woken and alert to listen to what he tried to say.
“William…” Fredrick stuttered out of breath.
“I need your immediate help! They will arrive soon.”
“Who?” I uttered.
“There is no time to explain, please help me escape” he urged.
I took him down stairs into the basement where I knew a safe passage, it once was an old mine. Before entering the mine for escape, Fredrick said:
“I will write to you and explain my situation in a week. The letter will be sent to my dear Aunt Helen. She will hold on to it until your arrival. But for now, farewell William Canton!” Silently leaving into the dark mine and only seen by the lantern, he was gone.
Just a few moments later the detective and his officers showed themselves in. They found me back in bed trying to get more sleep, they pulled my covers off and ordered me to reveal my friends whereabouts or location. I answer with…“I haven’t met with him lately. He is always out on business or out with family. We never talk anymore. Mind I ask why you’re looking for him?”
The detective answered, “He is responsible for a murder, if you see him, report him immediately!” After they left, I sat down to think through what just happened, feeling shocked that Fredrick could be capable of such actions.

Canton Degin - Preface

I started writing a fictional adventure story exactly two months ago. This tale is an intertwined story between two friends that have certain events occur in their lives. The story is named after the two main characters; William Canton and his friend, Fredrick Degin. Canton Degin is an adventure tale set in the 1800's.

Create a Sunday ritual. As Newport says "Sunday sets the tone for the week that follows". It is always tempting to relax on Sunday, but maybe it would be smart to get prepared for the following new week. This "weekend focus" as Newport states it, is very vital for being ready for studies. Simply form a ritual, like reading or walking with friends. "If you take control of your Sunday, you take control of your week".-Cal Newport.

Medical Terminology

Remembering Medical Terminology; I decided I will be displaying these medical terms with definitions. Medical Terminology is very useful and very important to Medical striving students. I remember taking Human Biology in high school and having to memorize many vocabulary words. My teacher ( I will not reveal his name) said that repetition of these terms is a crucial fundamental task of being able to pass his class. Looking back, I would say that he was right. Practicing and ingraining those terms into my mind helped me pass his class with an excellent "A".

This book is awesome and very useful for college students out there. It is easy to read and includes important tips/information on how to survive college. Thanks to Newport's advice, college students are proceeding to succeed at college.

"Don't do all your reading" To paraphrase what Newport is saying about this tip; college professors will always give large amounts of reading material. But it is not humanly possible to finish all the reading required before the due date. Just skim through the reading and remember the most important information. This will help you save time and have extra on the things you really want to do.

Pride and Prejudice

Some of you are wondering why I am writing about these very complex subjects, someones pride and prejudice (thinking a individual/group something they are not). I have been passionately in love with this movie called Pride and Prejudice. It is a period romance film set in regency England. The characters of this film, a large family consisting of five sister all out in society and wanting to get married. After Elizabeth, the main heroine meets Mr. Darcy a rich, proud, and some what handsome man; she sees him very unsocial and rude. The film continues with all sorts of twists that are unexpected (not to ruin it for you, if you are interested).
After seeing this film and loving it, I researched it and found out that it was based on a book by Jane Austen. I found it quite interesting and quite ironic how the author having wrote many books about love, was never lucky to find love herself. Researching more deeply, Austen however did encounter love. But did not get the opportunity to get married and live happily ever after. Watching another film called Becoming Jane, I got the inside look at the life of Jane Austen. Feeling sorry for her, I should say: with her unluckiness with love. But I still admire her, for writing such beautiful books that help us look into courtships of people many years ago. She is now a part of history.
