Dear Doctors...

Dear Doctors,
From my point of view, you all are very smart individuals; going to college for like eight to ten years. You practically know all medical terms, and if you can't remember them, its o.k you got Google to look it up. Doctors, you all love to boss other employees around, and if you don't get it your way, you get pissed. I'm sorry but because you went to college for many years, does not make you able to disrespect  people lower then you in the "medical ranking triangle." Surgeon, M.D, nurse, M.A, C.N.A...Yes, you docs have responsibility and hold peoples lives in your hands, almost like God. But, No, you can not lower down people and harass them. You can not throw things around, you can not yell and blame people for your faults. So here is a shout out to you, Health Provider.
Sincerely,

Your dedicated fellow employee.

Medical Terminology

As a student that wants to pursue a career in the medical field, one of the first classes assigned to take, is Medical terminology. The class is pure torch (if of-course you are new to it). The professor/teacher slams you with, what it seems millions of word parts to memorize; and have them scanned into to your brain for later testing and quizzing. The course itself is composed of skimming through the body systems, and the class continues with hour long lectures and power-points. And not to forget the billions of note-cards, all hand written with medical terms, all of them stacked on your desk, about to topple over. It seems that everything is flying past you, the pages start to blur and the word parts, slowly but surely it starts to make sense. A new language, you start to understand, the medical language.

Here is some of that language:
  • hypo- deficient; below, under; less than normal
  • hyper- excessive; above
  • -uria - urine condition
  • -tropin - stimulating the function of
  • -emia - blood condition
  • somat/o- body
  • phys/o- growing
  • dips/o- thirst
  • crin/o- secrete
  • rhytid/o- wrinkle
  • -opsia - vision
  • -tropia - to turn
